My thesis explored the potential of graphic design when an exhibition is within and about a physical space. I chose to make a site-specific historical display about Calarts that was comprised of 7 large-scale panels, one for each department. Each panel uses a comparative structure showing three levels of information: the founding concepts and ideals for the school, the pivotal early years of the institution, and now. Together they form an overall narrative landscape and present an alternative history that inverts the typical content/form relationship in exhibition design.
